Planning Committee
The Council is now being asked to do away with the system of all 38 Councillors sitting on one of two planning committees for their part of the District, and instead having one committee of 15 members. Great if you are one of the 15 - not so good for your residents if you are not. Furthermore the proposal is for a politically balanced committee. Given that planning is not supposed to be a party political issue this is somewhat surprising.
I think this is a cop out to make it easier for members to avoid taking difficult decisions and will make it more difficult to put forward residents views particularly when they are contrary to those of officers.
