Splash Overspend

At the recent debate on the above, it was decided that the matter would be looked at by the Performance and Audit committee rather than the Scrutiny committee which had raised concerns.
It is tempting to ask whether this change had anything to do with the fact that the latter committee is chaired by a member of the opposition rather than controlling group. Nevertheless I looked forward to the matter being examined. Upon receiving the agenda however there was no sign of the item. This seems to support my expressed view that the Council was attempting to kick the issue into the long grass, which was denied. Having now requested that the lawnmower be brought out I am told that the issue will be discussed in February - the matter of spending of taxpayers cash without prior approval does not seem to be high on the Council's list of priorities.
