Local Roads
The County Council has recently suggested to a local resident with a complaint about roads that they should contact me - even though the District Council has no involvement with the state of highways. I am always happy to get involved in local issues and have in turn complained about the state of the A443 between Holt and Newnham Bridge. I am currently reading a book about a traveller in 1698 when the roads were "rutted, pot-holed and periodically flooded" so nothing new about today's roads then.
My complaint has at least got some reaction- someone has been out to paint around some of the potholes with red paint. At least they are easier to spot!

Roads on The Hill, Abberley are in dire need of attention. There are many very large and deep potholes which are causing difficulty not only to walkes of this beautiful area but also to those who pay tax for road maintenance and appear to be ignored. I would request on behalf of these people, some whom are ill and require NHS staff to also use these roads to treat them, for someone in authority to take the request seriously and do what is required effectively in one go so as not to have this problem continue to arise year on year. It is quite disgraceful that the roads are in such ill-repair and the responisble authority are not prepared to take this seriously and mend the roads once in a proper manner of repair.
