Council Redundancies (part 1)
In a question I put to the leader at last night's Council meeting, it was revealed that the £650,000 in senior management redundancy costs (a figure that was only put in the public domain by use of the Freedom of Information Act) has now increased to £800,000 over the next four years and there is still more to come in pension costs after that.
This increase has not been put to Council. When asked if the Leader agreed that in light of this, Council should be allowed to debate the issue, the reply was that there was "no reason to continue the discussion".
Given that there are other ways of making greater net savings for the council tax payers than currently proposed, I should not be surprised that those making the decisions don't want to discuss it.
