Regional Government

A body called the "West Midlands Constitutional Convention" is seeking the views of Councils and others on its paper promoting regional government in the West Midlands. In order to end government by quango it is pushing an idea which is likely to remove either County or District Councils and set up the second tier of government at regional level. Malvern Hills would not even be guaranteed to get one elected representative and effectively we would be controlled by the conurbation.I would hazard a guess that it would also cost more.
Whilst the control of quangos is a real issue, I can see this proposal making matters worse for our area if it is allowed to move forward.
